The Cat Creeps (Universal, 1930).Herald (7" X 8"). Directed by Rupert Julian (The Phantom of the Opera) and starring Helen Twelvetrees, Raymond Hackett, Jean Hersholt and Lilyan Tashman, this is a lost film. Released some three months before "Dracula" it could perhaps be called the first sound horror film by the studio that invented the genre. This is a beautiful three color herald in excellent condition. Any paper from this film is very rare. Very Fine/Near Mint [THIS 3 COLOUR HERALD SOLD FOR $191.20 ]

The Cat Creeps (Universal, 1930). Lobby Cards (3) (11" X 14").
The film may be lost, but these super rare cards from this early Universal horror film sure show the fun we're missing! Director Rupert Julian (Lon Chaney's, The Phantom of the Opera) had a hit with a fine cast of Helen Twelvetrees, Jean Hersholt, Lilyan Tashman, and Neil Hamilton. Note the creepy hand coming out of the hidden panel, the eerie purple spiral wall shadow, and the large, superimposed question mark over the face of the maniacal killer, meant to encourage theatre goers to guess who it might be. Each card has a different inset photo of one of the stars. The cards have been restored and touched-up, with the borders replaced and a tear in the bottom image of one card patched up. Fine.[THESE LOBBY CARDS SOLD FOR $567.63 ]

The Cat Creeps (Universal, 1930). Title Lobby Card and Lobby Cards (6) (10.25" X 13.25"). Rupert Julian (the director of Lon Chaney's "The Phantom of the Opera") delivered this campy, creepy "old dark house" thriller with Helen Twelvetrees in a remake of 1927's "The Cat and the Canary."

Displayed here are some fun scenes that make us guess at how good this thriller was - sadly, the film is now lost.

These cards have all been trimmed leaving a thin border, and they also have minor wear along the edges. Very Good-. [THESE LOBBY CARDS SOLD FOR $1,075.50 ]
