Comment by deedee gauzot on April 5, 2013 at 1:54am Need something to read between all those screenings at NOIR CITY: Hollywood? NOIR CITY Annual #5 features insightful essays on several of the films playing during the fest. There's Jake Hinkson's interview with Edgardo Krebs regarding the resurrection of Richard Wright's Native Son, which plays April 19. Milan Hain explores the career of director/actor Hugo Hass in his article Forgotten émigré. Hass' The Other Woman screens on April 6, with Sunset Blvd. Last but not least, Annual #5 features the late, great Ray Zone's article on 3-D film noir, including background on Man in the Dark, which will screen on a double bill with Inferno at the Aero Theatre as part of the 15th Anniversary festivities.
Copies will be available at the Egyptian theatre all during the festival, but if you can't make it to the shows—the book is only a click away on Amazon.com. All proceeds go directly to the rescue and restoration of vintage noir film.
