Where Film Noir Lives...Too!
Hot Spot (20th Century Fox, 1941). One Sheet (27" X 41").
This film, eventually released as I Wake Up Screaming, was originally titled Hot Spot for its New York industry-trade debut on October 18, 1941. On October 31st of that year, it was released nationally under its more familiar name.
Starring Betty Grable, Victor Mature, and Carol Landis, this is a compelling film noir thriller. The one sheet offered here had touch-up to fold wear, and airbrushing for some small chips in the borders and background. Professional restoration has admirably addressed these minor issues, and collectors won't want to miss this remarkable poster with the original pre-release title. Fine/Very Fine on Linen.Sold for: $1,075.50

BLUES IN THE NIGHT
Hollywood's great noir musical -- a deep-dish epic of love, death, and passion -- brilliantly conceived and stunningly rendered. An on-the-bum jazz band jams its way to fame and fortune while sidestepping the temptations of the high life and the murderous machinations of a desperate gangster. The film's full-bodied expressionistic photography and the pulsating music of the Jimmie Lunceford and Will Osborne orchestras mark this as a major rediscovery! The once-in-a-lifetime cast includes: Priscilla Lane, Richard Whorf, Betty Field, Jack Carson, Lloyd Nolan, Wallace Ford, Elia Kazan, Billy Halop, and Howard DaSilva. Photographed by Ernest Haller. Written by Robert Rossen. Directed by Anatole Litvak. In B&W. DIGITAL. 88 mins. 1941. FRI at 8:00 only!
