An unrestored poster that displays signs of use. May include light edge or fold wear, slight fold separations, very minor paper loss, pinholes, or unobtrusive stains. Doom and gloom, femme fatales and anti-heroes will come to the big screen Oct. 12-13 and Oct. 19-20 at the Apollo Theatre and Peoria Public Library during the 10th annual Film Noir Festival.
This year's theme is "big," and all shows will start at 7 p.m. The lineup includes:
Thursday, Oct. 11: "The Big Knife" (1955), starring Jack Palance, Rod Steiger and Ida Lupino in a tense, inside-Hollywood drama. Director Robert Aldrich also features Shelley Winters, Wendelll Corey, Jean Hagen and Everett Sloan.
This showing is in the Main Library's (107 NE Monroe St.) auditorium with its new, state-of-the-art digital-projection and sound system. The library screening is free, as is parking and refreshments.
The following screenings take place at the Apollo Theatre, 311 Main St.

Friday, Oct. 12: "The Big Sleep"(1946), starring Humphrey Bogart and Lauren Bacall in a screen version of Raymond Chandler's Philip Marlowe novel about a wacky woman, her weird family and murders all over Los Angeles. Regis Toomey, Bob Steele, Elisha Cook and Dorothy Malone are featured in director Howard Hawks' picture. (Local historian and author Norm Kelly will introduce.)
Saturday, Oct. 13: "Big Combo"(1955), with Cornel Wilde and Richard Conte in a "strange bedfellows" plot about characters on both sides of the law cooperating to smash a crime syndicate. Brian Donlevy and Earl Holliman co-star. (Illinois Central College professor Craig Shurtleff will introduce.)
Friday, Oct. 19: "The Big Heat"(1953), starring Glenn Ford and Gloria Grahame in director Fritz Lang's police procedural that becomes a melodramatic noir, with Lee Marvin. (Journal Star business editor and Apollo board president Steve Tarter will introduce.)
Saturday, Oct. 20: "The Big Clock"(1948), featuring Ray Milland and Charles Laughton as a magazine editor and his publisher, linked by a mutual friend - and her murder. Maureen O'Sullivan, Elsa Lanchester and Harry Morgan co-star. (Columnist and author Bill Knight will introduce.)
Admission at the library screenings is free; Apollo screening are a suggested donation of $5 for adults, and $4 for kids, students and seniors. For more information, call 673-4343.

A very lightly used, unrestored lobby card set with fresh, saturated colors. The set should have no holes, no tears, and no paper loss. Original envelope included.
